Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Develop students’ understanding of the role of director/creative team/actor collaboration in the development of new ideas

  • Introduce students to an intellectual framework for generating creative inspiration for performance from recurring personal interests and instinctive response to external stimuli

  • Examine the role of design elements in shaping the creative vision, including set, lighting, sound, and costume

  • Create a practical plan for realising the creative vision in a production

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Adapt discoveries made in collaboration with a creative team to the preparation and delivery of various learning tasks
2.
Synthesise design, costume, sound, and lighting elements into a pratical production and/or learning tasks
3.
Integrate personal responses to creative stimuli into the dynamic creation and interpretation of new, devised and extant texts for live and digital space
4.
Critically reflect on and evaluate the process of generating original and innovative ideas in the production of theatre
