Aims
This topic aims to:
- Cultivate deep understanding of learner diversity and the implications for planning and teaching
- Prepare preservice teachers with contemporary understandings, knowledge and skills in inclusive curriculum design, assessment, and research‐informed teaching for academically diverse learners
- Prepare preservice teachers to establish and manage flexible, responsive, and inclusive classroom learning environments
- Encourage collaborative approaches to supporting young people with specialised educational needs in inclusive settings
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Synthesise knowledge of learner diversity, inclusive practices, research‐informed teaching and legislative requirements into a holistic understanding of inclusion and differentiation
2.
Articulate key principles of effective differentiation and how these are reflected in a range of educational practices
3.
Design differentiated learning tasks suitable for the full range of students in academically diverse classrooms, in the context of one or more curriculum domains
4.
Incorporate appropriate technologies into a differentiated learning task to facilitate students' curriculum access and engagement
5.
Evaluate planning and teaching practices using a framework of key principles for inclusion
