Aims
This topic aims to ensure that students understand basic safety requirements when on board a vessel.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Demonstrate an understanding of the elements of fire prevention on board the vessel, including the theory of combustion and methods of extinguishing fire
2.
Demonstrate an understanding of the use of portable fire fighting appliances
3.
Demonstrate an understanding of launching, boarding and survival in an inflatable life raft, including man overboard procedures
4.
Demonstrate elements of accident prevention
