Overview

This topic allows students to undertake design development of their graduate range. This will consist of design experimentation, research including current trends and other inspirations to a design brief and evaluation of design ideas in the form of a visual diary Students will complete fashion illustrations or industry equivalent.Regular one-on-one … For more content click the Read More button below.

Regular one-on-one mentoring sessions with design lecturer will occur to guide the student through the process of turning concept into reality.

Students will undertake sourcing of materials based on design development. Final designs will require that specifications and trade flats are completed to an industry standard.

Students will collaborate to produce range catalogues, and produce a portfolio for presentation.

Aims

This topic aims to give students the opportunity to:

Demonstrate their skills in design, development, patternmaking and construction
Show critical analysis of their own work and problem solving abilities
Present work to a graduate and industry standard meeting required timelines

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Independently develop fashion ranges to industry, client, or self-employment requirements

Produce a collection that culminates in the use of advanced skills and techniques in design, patternmaking and construction

Analyse problems in garment design and construction, and provide solutions

Adhere to industry standard timelines

Produce a portfolio for future employment
