Aims
This topic aims to introduce pre-service teachers to the concepts of sex, gender, and sexuality and how they relate to comprehensive sexual and relationship education. With a focus upon LGBTQIA+ populations within schooling contexts, the social construction of sex, sexuality and gender will be explored from multiple perspectives. Effective teaching practices to assist in the delivery of comprehensive sexual and relationship education will also be implemented and discussed throughout the topic.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Examine current best practice in sexuality education, and the relevant curriculum related to sexuality education in Australian schools
2.
Differentiate and describe the concepts of sex, gender, and sexuality and how these are, at times, socially constructed.
3.
Deliver comprehensive sexual education content in a safe, inclusive and sensitive manner
