Overview
This topic introduces key social and psychological factors that relate to health and wellbeing. Students will examine the cause and effect relationships between internal and external factors influencing health and wellbeing, and the systems and processes involved in both the positive and negative impact on health outcomes.
Aims
This topic aims to develop and apply knowledge of key social factors relating to health and the impact of psychological factors on wellbeing. Student will be able to apply theoretical knowledge to responses to health issues and analyse the impact of relationships in health and the community on health outcomes.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Analyse the relationship between disparities in social structures and individual agency, and the impact of power relations on healthcare policies and practices
2.
Integrate personal reflection on personal practice to sociological perspectives in reasoning and decision making in health care
3.
Identify psychological influences on health and disability
4.
Apply health and developmental psychology theories to help understand responses to health and disability
5.
Identify and explain psychological factors that influence peoples responses to health and disability across the lifespan
