Overview
This topic will provide students with the opportunity to develop their case management and intervention competencies in practical settings, with appropriate clinical supervision. Students will gain practical experience which is complemented by live demonstrations and lectures on cognitive behavioural therapy and counselling approaches for relationship issues, including domestic violence.

Aims
This topic aims to assist students to:
- Become competent in using advanced counselling skills.
- Understand the relationship between family violence, abuse and control, and the principles of safe practice when working with cases relating to family violence.
- Be familiar with the demands, risks, signs and symptoms, and stress related to crisis work.
- Understand the principals, possibilities, limitations and ethical considerations of couple therapy.
