The aim of this topic is to:
- Prepare students with the knowledge, skills and scope to care for women and families impacted by psychological and mental health issues
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Examine how pregnancy, childbirth and the transition to parenthood can influence the psychological health and wellbeing of women and families
2.
Analyse the role of the midwife in enhancing perinatal mental health and wellbeing
3.
Examine clinical tools and approaches to care provision that aid the detection and treatment of perinatal mental illness

Apply a trauma-informed approach to midwifery practice with the goal of enhancing the psychological wellbeing of women and their families
5.
Analyse the relationship between social determinants of health and perinatal mental wellbeing for women
