Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Describe the role of the midwife in woman-centred, primary health care strategies and promotion in low-, middle- and high-resource settings
2.
Interpret global public health policies and describe their effect on the health of women, babies, and families across communities
3.
Apply principles of health education and health promotion to midwifery practice
4.
Explore ethical issues, cultural preferences and rituals associated with childbirth and discuss how these could be incorporated into midwifery practice
