Overview

This topic consolidates the student’s ability to work interprofessionally and collaboratively within the health care system.  

Aims

The aim of this topic is to:   

  • Enable students to apply the 4 IPE core competency domains to midwifery practice. Students will work collaboratively with midwifery colleagues and other health and social care providers to provide holistic, individualised care for women and their families

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Critically reflect on existing interactions with multidisciplinary colleagues, stakeholders, and service providers
2.
Identify strategies to improve collaboration, including strengthening referral and consultation with other health and social care providers
3.
Engage with consumer organisations, stakeholders and/or service providers to identify potential collaborations to improve outcomes for women, babies, and families
4.
Examine and integrate the four interprofessional competency domains to underpin midwifery practice
5.
Engage in interprofessional activities between disciplines with a focus on improving midwifery care
