Overview

This topic will consolidate prior learning and the application of knowledge and skills to inform a student-led project. Students will identify gaps in knowledge and inconsistencies to enhance the education/research/practice nexus. Students will investigate barriers and facilitators to implementation of evidence-based practice with the view of creating solution-focused strategies.  

Aims

The aim of this topic is to:   

  • Prepare students with the skills and knowledge to access, analyse, interpret and translate evidence into practice by devising solution-focused strategies as future leaders of maternity care provision

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Critically appraise current practice and available evidence to inform a student-led project
2.
Create solution-focused strategies to implement evidence into practice
3.
Integrate knowledge and understanding of the political climate of midwifery to formulate a plan for practice change
4.
Plan dissemination strategies to share knowledge and evidence to advocate for change
