Aims
The aim of this topic is to:
- Introduce students to the role and responsibilities of the student, Registered Nurse and the multidisciplinary team across differing contexts of the Australian Health Care system
- Introduce relevant terminology, laws, codes, national standards, and practice requirements that frame the role of the Registered Nurse
- Relate essential nursing values to attitudes, personal qualities, and professional behaviours
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Identify key events in the history of nursing and the evolution of significant nursing theories that inform care provision
2.
Identify the different components of the Australian Health Care System and the practice of the registered nurse in various contexts
3.
Construct a personal understanding of professional responsibilities, roles, and scope of practice of the Registered nurse and the multidisciplinary team within the health system
