Aims

The aim of this topic is to:

  • Develop skills including searching and reviewing research to translate into practice
  • Examine the principles and process of Evidence Based Practice
  • Explore the role of the Registered Nurse in sourcing and applying evidence to provide safe, comprehensive, and person-centred care

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Discuss the role of research in health and the role of evidence-based practice in the provision of patient care
2.
Critically appraise different study designs and exhibit an understanding of the evidence they produce
3.
Reflect on the role of the Registered Nurse in maximising evidence-based practice across the healthcare organisation
