Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Allow students to examine how anatomy, physiology and microbiology knowledge informs patient centred care within a Fundamentals of Care Framework
  • Provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate appropriate clinical skills (including therapeutic and professional communication) and expected knowledge in clinical practice

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Demonstrate skills, knowledge and attitudes required to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse Standards for Practice at the expected level for a first year, second semester student
2.
Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the person centred care needed to support activities of daily living within the fundamentals of care framework
3.
Attain competency in numeracy and basic calculations to inform safe medication management
4.
Prepare for and engage in professional behaviours including, but not limited to, pre-placement clinical preparation
