Aims
This topic aims to:
Develop students’ knowledge and skills which enable them to apply a range of theoretical and critical approaches to health planning and evaluation to address contemporary public health challenges.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Examine influences from your own values, experiences, and beliefs on your decisions, conduct, analysis of evaluative components of public health program planning; you will be able to do this by establishing a practice of reflection and reflexivity
2.
Competently distinguish and apply a range of key evaluation terms, concepts, processes, and theories to support selection of appropriate evaluation methodologies used to assess public health initiatives
3.
Analyse public health program evaluations, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and be able to propose and apply scientific paradigms that offer different or complementary method to the conduct of evaluation; you will identify these as underpinning decisions-making and judgements – the foundations of evaluative practice
4.
Critically appraise existing evaluation plans, models, and methods to adapt or establish an evaluation approach that is appropriate for addressing a public health issue/challenge
