Overview

In this topic, students will develop the required capabilities to plan and deliver safe and effective physiotherapy management for people with cardiorepiratory conditions, both in the comminity and in hospital care.

Aims

This topic aims to facilitate students' discussions on cardiovascular and respiratory pathologies, develop their skills in planning and implementing efficient, effective, culturally responsive, and client-centred physiotherapy assessments for cardiorespiratory and vascular conditions. Students will demonstrate the ability to plan safe and evidence-based physiotherapy management, effectively record and communicate assessment findings and decisions, monitor and evaluate intervention effectiveness, and make necessary modifications in consultation with the client. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of inclusive, collaborative, culturally responsive, and client-centred practice in the context of cardiorespiratory and vascular conditions, and develop reflective skills for professional growth.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Discuss cardiovascular and respiratory pathologies
2.
Plan and implement an efficient, effective, culturally responsive and client-centred physiotherapy cardiorespiratory and vascular assessment
3.
Demonstrate the planning of safe and effective physiotherapy management using evidence based practice to inform decision making for clients with cardiorespiratory and vascular conditions
4.
Record and effectively communicate physiotherapy assessment findings, outcomes and decisions
5.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make modifications to treatment plans as necessary in consultation with the client
6.
Demonstrate an understanding of inclusive, collaborative, culturally responsive and client-centred practice in clients with cardiorespiratory or vascular conditions
7.
Demonstrate an ability to reflect on own practice
