The learning focus of this clinical placement topic may be in any of the core practice areas or a combination of cardiorespiratory, neurological, musculoskeletal and/or orthopaedic physiotherapy. Placement settings include acute hospital, rehabilitation facilities, aged care, education and research, and/or community and disability care. The student is expected to develop and demonstrate competency in all aspects of the physiotherapy management of patient/client presentations, with an emphasis on independence in the management of non-complex components of care. This includes demonstration of professional behaviours and ethical practice, effective communication, evidence-based practice and risk management in all aspects of safe and effective physiotherapy assessment, clinical analysis and planning and intervention delivery.

All core physiotherapy clinical practice areas and placement settings are tracked and allocated to ensure competency is developed and demonstrated in each required area and in sufficient breadth of practice in order to meet Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC) accreditation requirements.
