Overview

This topic provides an overview of the fundamental principles of physiotherapy care in the context of cancer care, women's and men's pelvic health and care of people with disabilities.

Aims

This topic aims to provide an understanding of the roles of interprofessional teams in cancer management, the impact of cancer treatment on function and participation, mechanisms and indications for exercise therapy in cancer patients, and culturally responsive physiotherapy strategies to optimize function and participation. Students will also learn about the role of physiotherapists in pelvic health management, assessment screening for pelvic health conditions, the role of physiotherapists in managing people with disabilities, and critically reflect on organizational and systemic frameworks supporting disability management. Additionally, students will apply the principles of the core capabilities framework in a disability context to develop evidence-based and client-focused management strategies.

Explain the role physiotherapists have in the management of pelvic health for men and women
