Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Show how psychological theory and research can be used to understand and redress a variety of issues or problems in the real world
  • Show how cultural and other contextual factors influence the understanding of problems and the development of solutions

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of the application of psychological theory and research to a range of types of problems, and using this knowledge to analyse a novel problem and enact appropriate solutions in a manner that is reflexive, culturally appropriate and sensitive to the diversity of individual clients, including with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures

Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate values and ethics in psychology when developing solutions and interventions across a range of contexts
4.
Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of occupations that utilise psychological knowledge and research in interventions across a range of contexts
