Aims
Students are required to undertake a period of at least 12 weeks of full-time equivalent Work Experience with a placement provider. During this period, students will work under the general supervision of a practising professional, and will perform a range of technical or management tasks.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Have an insight and understanding of the nature and complexities of project work within industrial and/or research organisations
2.
Critically describe and understand the structure and operation of the company or organisation, and its responsibilities to shareholders, employees, customers, and the general public
3.
Critically describe and understand the influences of commercial, economic, social, cultural, political, legal, industrial and environmental issues affecting companies, organisations or employees that undertake work in their discipline
4.
Critically describe and understand the responsibilities, roles, attitudes, values, priorities, judgement and work methods of practising professionals in industry
5.
Communicate effectively in a range of technical and business solutions
6.
Exhibit maturity in their own professional attitudes, and reconcile the obligations, responsibilities and actions of professionals with their own values
7.
Appreciate the overall manner in which science is practised and undertaken globally, and the role each team member contributes to the project or work
