Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Give students the chance to explore specific roles within a Virtual Production and Motion Capture pipeline
  • Extend students' understanding of the importance of file formats, planning, and robust workflows.
  • Give students an appreciation of the particular qualities and properties of certain motion capture processes
  • Improve students' awareness of how lenses, compression, storage, and other factors can be essential to Motion Capture and Virtual Production practices.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Analyse their current work and the work of other team members within a virtual production studio pipeline
2.
Explore, through first-hand experience, the processes contributing to a “shoot”, a mo-cap exercise and/or file transfers and naming paying attention to filmic techniques for shooting a correctly exposed screen
3.
Visualise designs that show the student has negotiated issues of modifying, cleaning up or packaging imagery or data professionally
