This topic aims to:

  • Introduce students to influential sociological perspectives on modern social life
  • Develop students understanding of important social processes through which modern societies are produced, reproduced, and transformed
  • Teach students to read and assess arguments from different theoretical schools
  • Provide students the opportunity for the development of graduate skills, such as:
    • Critical analysis 
    • Informed and constructive written communication
    • Understanding of complex sociological argumentation and different sociological theories
    • Research and referencing
    • Self-directed and independent learning
