Overview
This topic will provide students with in-depth understanding of sporting contracts, commercial law, competitive law in sports, sporting tribunals, laws and policies related to discrimination and misconduct in sports. Students will apply principles of law in relation to sporting organisations, teams and products.

Aims
This topic aims to provide an understanding of principles of law that are relevant to sports, and enhance students' ability to apply these principles, as well as to critically discuss those laws relevant to sports.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Describe the legal issues that are common in sports law practices
2.
Demonstrate understanding of state, national and international law in relation to sports
3.
Critically discuss the development of mechanisms for the legal regulation of sport including such issues as sport-related governance, dispute settlement, the commercial regulation of sport, and the anti-doping in sport regime
4.
Develop the capacity to use the law as a resource in a sports environment
