Aims

This topic enables you to:

  • Develop awareness and understanding of the the work of practitioners from a variety of genres of practice

 

  • Develop and apply specialised practical and creative skills through the delivery of industry-oriented creative projects, focusing on the following areas of practice: 
    • Music Creation. e.g. composition, arrangement, song writing, remix, sound design, recombination, hybridisation
    • Music Production e.g. pre-production, recording, sequencing, synthesis, sampling, processing, mixing, mastering, studio operation
    • Music Performance e.g. pre-production, rehearsal, solo, ensemble, improvisation, staging, presentation
    • Music Curation. e.g. events production, music management, A&R, festival production, studio manager / owner
    • Music Diffusion. e.g. promotion, social media marketing, music administration, live events management
  • To produce an online journal that reflects upon the development of practical and creative skills

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Contextualise your practical and creative skills alongside selected techniques, methods, practitioners, and cultures of practice within the fields of music creation, production, performance, curation and diffusion

Establish and apply core practical and creative skills in music creation, production, performance, curation and diffusion, through the deliver of industry-orientated creative projects

Monitor and review your practical and creative skills development through an online reflective journal
