Aims

This topic aims to introduce students to professional practice in supporting people with disability and provide opportunities to apply and build foundation skills as a competent practitioner through hands on experience with people living with disabilities.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Demonstrate critical and reflective thinking processes to evaluate one’s own professional practice and performance against placement learning goals
2.
Implement respectful and professional communication with people living with disabilities and significant others demonstrating effective inter-professional practice
3.
Implement person centred care to support people living with disabilities to make choices that have positive impact on their chosen daily activities
4.
Critically reflect on placement experience including ways in which you are working in a culturally responsive, safe and inclusive way
