Aims

The aim of this topic is to explore social policy theory and application, by understanding the purpose, influences and problems with policy. You will analyse the effectiveness of policy for people with disability and be challenged to understand and influence policy development and implementation to reduce structural disadvantage.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Appraise the strengths and limitations of social policy in disability contexts

Evaluate the implementation of social policy and formulate implications and strategies for practice

Identify and apply opportunities for contributing to constructive policy development
