Aims

The topic aims to:

  • Explore the construct of learning disabilities and Multitiered Systems of Support in relation to effective planning and teaching for students with learning disabilities (SWLD)
  • Introduce preservice teachers to complex connections between academic learning, behaviour, student‐teacher relationships and the educational environment
  • Examine the role of disability legislation, inclusive policies, instructional practices and learning environments in promoting academic success and emotional wellbeing for students with learning disabilities
  • Explore research informed perspectives related to high‐quality schooling for students with learning disabilities
