Aims
This topic aims to:
• Develop pre-service teachers’ knowledge and understanding of the numeracy and information and communication technology (ICT) demands of the teaching profession.
• Enhance pre-service teachers’ capacity to design and justify curriculum which fosters the development of numeracy and digital literacy capabilities of young learners within curriculum learning areas.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Articulate a critical understanding of numeracy in the community and its application within a curriculum learning area
2.
Explain the responsibilities, safety considerations and ethical issues associated with using information and communication technologies in learning and teaching
3.
Justify the design of curriculum which effectively integrates evidence-based teaching strategies and ICT
