Aims
This topic aims to provide students with essential practice in mechanical engineering design, communication and management.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Effectively apply design process principles (i.e. problem identification, concept generation, concept selection and design embodiment)
2.
Demonstrate communication skills (e.g. logical cohesion, writing a research paper, integrating evidence and the effective presentation)
3.
Demonstrate project management skills (e.g. materials selection, sourcing and budgeting)
4.
Demonstrate professional skills (e.g. team work, record keeping)
5.
Conduct independent research into a design problem to critically review, analyse, evaluate, and present findings in a structured, referenced, and well-written research report
