Overview
This topic will consist of lecture-based conversations around couture designers and techniques. Students will be required to explore a range of couture and tailoring techniques through project work. The expected outcome will be that students will apply learned techniques to the design and construction of couture garments.

Aims
This topic aims to give students the opportunity to:
- Develop confidence to experiment with couture and tailoring techniques and fabric embellishment
- Expand their patternmaking, garment construction and design skills
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Negotiate with clients, and work to create designs to meet a client brief
2.
Critically analyse your work, to identify problems and find solutions
3.
Communicate your design and construction skills and techniques through the development of showcase garments
