Aims
This topic aims to provide students with a working knowledge of:
- The regulation of paid work
- The relationships between employers, employees, unions and the state
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Distinguish key features of the employment relationship and the Australian national workplace relations system
2.
Prepare information about contemporary processes of collective bargaining and dispute resolution, such as enterprise bargaining
3.
Integrate legal regulatory and human resource management issues in the workplace
4.
Distinguish important concepts and principles for a broad range of legal issues relevant to the employment relationship (e.g. entitlements, performance, protections, health and safety, and dismissal)
5.
Assess a factual scenario involving multiple employment law issues (e.g. entitlements, performance, protections, health and safety, and dismissal) using a legal problem solving framework
6.
Communicate in ways that are effective, appropriate and persuasive for legal and non-legal audiences
