Aims
The aim of this topic is to:
- Develop a comprehensive insight into a person's wellbeing; specifically, the relationship between physical and mental health, and including carers' perspectives
- Gain foundational insight into the aetiology and manifestations of common mental illnesses and disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, schizophrenia) and grasp principles of the recovery approach to mental health care

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Explain the nexus between physical and mental health considering key issues in contemporary care
2.
Discuss common assumptions from self and society about mental health and mental illness
3.
Explain the elements and significance of a mental health assessment to nurse a person with mental health issues and to facilitate recovery

Discuss the skills needed as a Registered Nurse for promoting a person's mental health and recovery from mental illness
