Aims

This is a capstone topic which aims for students to understand the context of the workplace environments, including ethical and professional behaviours and scope of practice and how to facilitate change in behaviours. The topic also aims to increase students' confidence in the development and application of effective communication skills required of nutrition-related professionals to communicate nutrition and food science via verbal, written and digital means to different audiences in the community.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Reflect on safe, effective and ethical approaches to disseminating nutrition information, within the scope of a nutritionist
2.
Critically evaluate the scientific underpinnings of contemporary topics in nutrition to inform effective education for individuals, groups or populations .
3.
Demonstrate effective written and oral communication of nutrition information in a contemporary media context
4.
Apply communication theories and nutrition knowledge to design, implement and evaluate an effective public communication strategy for stakeholders.
