Aims

This topic aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide evidence-based, patient-centred care to patients suffering traumatic injuries, at a foundational paramedic level. Concepts of mechanism of injury, thorough and systematic patient assessment, and best-practice treatment and management techniques will be covered, and practically demonstrated. Students will also be introduced to the implications of specific trauma on special populations such as paediatrics, obstetrics, elderly, and bariatric patients.
