Aims
This topic aims to lay the foundation that students can use the principles of Physics for understanding and solving problems in all areas of Engineering. In particular the topic aims that students:
- will understand and apply the fundamental principles of kinematics, mechanical forces, oscillations, waves, sound, light and Electromagnetism
- will learn how to use the principles of kinematics, mechanical forces, oscillations, waves, sound, light and Electromagnetism for problem solving
- will develop the understanding how to carry out experiments in a Physics laboratory
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Understand and communicate the basic principles of kinematics, mechanical forces, oscillations, waves, sound, light and electromagnetism
2.
Apply the concepts of kinematics, mechanical forces, oscillations, waves, sound, light and electromagnetism for solving Engineering problems
3.
Safely carry out experiments in a Physics laboratory
4.
Evaluate and communicate results from laboratory experiments in written and oral forms
5.
Understand roles within a team through participation in team activities
