Aims
This topic aims to:
- Familiarise students with the complex ethical, legal and professional practice issues that exist in professional psychology practice
- Prepare students to manage their continuing professional development including self-reflection on their own practice
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Apply the APS (or other relevant) Code of Ethics to professioanl practice, policies and procedures across a range of contexts
2.
Demonstrate effective use of interviewing and counselling skills in a culturally responsive manner, to conduct professional intake interviews including risk assessments.
3.
Engage in self-reflection and consultation to evaluate the impact of their own values and beliefs on the therapeutic process, and the effectiveness of their professional practice
4.
Demonstrate knowledge of the contribution of other professionals and ability to effectively communicate and work with multidisciplinary professionals
