Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Introduce students to the diversity of psychological practice
  • Provide knowledge and skills in selected areas related to specific population groups and settings
  • Enhance awareness of cultural and individual differences, and professional and ethical issues

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Identify and plan appropriate evidence-based interventions for various presenting issues across the lifespan and diverse groups
2.
Apply evidence-based therapeutic techniques across the lifespan, and in a culturally responsive manner across socially and culturally diverse populations, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
3.
Communicate psychological knowledge to clients and multidisciplinary professionals in a culturally responsive manner
4.
Demonstrate evidence-based practice in the understanding and management of psychological disorders, including across the age range and across modalities
