Aims
This topic aims to provide the opportunity for Allied Health professionals to develop a specialist/generalist framework for confidently, competently and reflectively providing Primary Health Care services to people located in isolated, rural, remote and Indigenous communities.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Integrate and apply advanced knowledge of the unique context and characteristics of Indigenous health and remote settings to allied health practice
2.
Conceptually map the underlying factors which impact access to and quality of health services for Indigenous clients in remote communities
3.
Contextualise how principles of cultural safety, primary health care, and community engagement apply to allied health practice in remote Indigenous communities
4.
Evaluate models of service delivery, including delegation and transdisciplinary practice, extended scope of practice and funding models in the remote context
5.
Appraise and demonstrate competencies for effective rural and remote allied health practice incorporating cultural safety and reflective practice
