Aims

This topic aims to allow students to:

  • Gain an understanding of the role played by media in Australia and internationally to shape the information we receive and what we know about the world
  • Develop familiarity with how media can both provide entertainment and act as a catalyst for social change
  • Develop understanding of a range of media forms and movements in their larger social, historical, and industrial contexts
  • Practise and improve critical reading and scholarly writing skills
  • Develop students’ ability to engage in collaborative activities
  • Provide opportunities for students to practice skills in creative communication

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
