Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Facilitate a broad understanding of the current knowledge, skills and attributes as outlined in the Professional Standards for Speech Pathologists in Australia 
  • Introduce students to the broader issues of lifespan development and the impact of the social context on health
  • Foster students' critical thinking and questioning about speech pathology practice.
  • Develop skills for professional and ethical practice

Apply foundation knowledge regarding communication and swallowing in children, to the management of simple speech pathology scenarios using enquiry based learning protocols

Describe the impact of social context on health at a range of levels
4.
Apply ethical principles to clinical reasoning in basic speech pathology scenarios
