Aims

The topic aims to produce graduates that:

  • Have self-awareness: Students will develop a deeper understanding of their own thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and how these contribute to our own mental health and wellbeing
  • Have contextual awareness: Students will explore how features of the workplace or community environment can impact on our own mental health and wellbeing, how we contribute to that context, and strategies that can be helpful to change the context
  • Can personalize and experiment with different evidence-based strategies for supporting our own mental health and well-being within the workplace
  • Are critically aware of what to look for when choosing how to measure or monitor mental health, and how to identify personal triggers and warning signs of mental health issues
  • Can apply strategies for a number of practical wellbeing challenges including stress and worry, responding to failures and setbacks, coping with uncomfortable emotions, and developing through change and uncertainty to lead a mentally healthy workplace

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
