Aims
This topic aims to:
- Support students to critically reflect on the history and ongoing presence of colonialism in Australia and on their own position in this context
- Enable students to engage with the knowledges of Indigenous women in Australian contexts
- Enable students to critically assess the ethics and relevance of non-Indigenous conceptual frameworks for understanding the intersection of gender, race and colonialism
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Examine Australian Indigenous women's knowledges and the issues faced by them in an ethical way
2.
Debate research and other knowledges on colonialism, race and gender with reference to Indigenous women in an ethical manner
3.
Appraise historical and contemporary Australian events using Australian Indigenous Women’s knowledges
4.
Integrate theoretical understanding of Australian Indigenous Women’s knowledges with real-world situations
