This advanced topic engages pre-service teachers in a critical examination of curriculum theory and its multifaceted purposes within contemporary educational contexts. Building upon foundational knowledge, PSTs will analyse and apply advanced principles of curriculum design and pedagogical strategies tailored for diverse learning environments, with a particular emphasis on the middle years of schooling.

PSTs will engage with current research and theoretical frameworks to inform the development of innovative teaching and learning programs across key learning areas, including English, Languages, Numeracy, Science, Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Health and Physical Education, and Integrated Curriculum.

Through collaborative projects and reflective practice, PSTs will enhance their analytical skills and deepen their understanding of the complexities of curriculum implementation, assessment strategies, and inclusive pedagogy. The course culminates in the creation of a comprehensive curriculum proposal that demonstrates a sophisticated integration of theory, practice, and critical reflection.
