Aims
This topic aims to:
- Develop learners' knowledge and ability to use moderately complex grammatical structures and vocabulary in their spoken and written Spanish
- Develop students' ability to understand relatively complex written texts and speech in Spanish
- Enhance students' communicative competence through participation in activities involving exposure to different kinds of media and group or pair interaction
- Expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development
- Enable students to recognise and interpret a range of socio-cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Critically interpret authentic written texts and spoken passages in Spanish, of different language varieties and registers
2.
Use articulated Spanish to communicate autonomously and proficiently in speech and in writing, in a range of different registers
3.
Produce a range of nuanced grammatical and lexical elements in Spanish
4.
Critique specific aspects of Hispanic cultures, as they are expressed through language: news, health, etc.
