Aims
This topic aims to:
- Introduce theoretical frameworks that enable students to develop their stances regarding the aims and purposes of education
- Develop students' awareness of the nature of research and knowledge creation in education
- Provide students with opportunities to reflect critically on their educational and socio-cultural experiences in relation to contemporary educational contexts and issues
- Assist students in understanding the social and cultural differences among young people in contemporary educational contexts
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate an awareness of different philosophies and aims of education

Demonstrate an understanding of selected current issues in education
3.
Demonstrate skills in critically analysing research literature and an artefact (e.g. website, media article) to do with education
