Aims

This topic aims to:

  • Provide students with an opportunity to explore in depth an area of interest within the field of education that could not be undertaken within the framework of an existing coursework topic
  • Enable students to work independently on topics related to the theoretical and research literature in this area
  • Enable students to demonstrate mastery of the literature in an area of education
  • Facilitate the development of a level of academic achievement consistent with post graduate standards

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Demonstrate a capacity for independent, self-directed learning

Demonstrate mastery of the literature in an area of education
3.
Analyse and evaluate literature in order to show its strengths and limitations
4.
Examine the possible uses or implications of the literature which could involve discussion of how the implications might be tested, how the literature might be used in education practice, or how the literature might apply to the analysis and understanding of particular problem areas
5.
Demonstrate a level of academic achievement consistent with post graduate standards
