Aims

This topic aims to critique all aspects of contemporary acute care resuscitation practice. This critique will  serve as a foundation to recognise the acute and/or critically ill deteriorating patient and initiation of resuscitation, inclusive of pharmacological interventions.   

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Develop and implement a systematic approach to identifying the clinical features and initial management of the deteriorating patient requiring resuscitation
2.
Evaluate the clinical application of the purpose, function and maintenance of advanced life support technology
3.
Analyse the findings of comprehensive systematic assessments of a critically ill patient
4.
Evaluate clinical reasoning to determine and implement appropriate care for the complex patient requiring resuscitation
5.
Critically examine the use of the pharmacological interventions in the management of critically ill patients
