Aims
This topic aims to:
- Develop students' knowledge of the basic principles of nutrition science and physical activity
- Familiarise students with the key components of a health promoting diet and lifestyle which can be applied to their everyday lives and future professional careers
Learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

Identify, including examples of major food sources, the macro and micro nutrients that are important for growth and health
2.
Describe the NRVs and relevant dietary guidelines as they relate to health promotion and the prevention of chronic diseases in adults
3.
Name the effects of nutrient deficiency and excess on health
4.
Describe the role of physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle
