This topic aims to develop and deepen the students' knowledge and skills in public health/primary health care leadership and to increase their breadth of understanding of their leadership role by enabling them to re-evaluate their own approaches and assumptions of leadership using appropriate theories and experiences.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
1.
Compare and constrast your own definition of leadership with various differing theoretical perspectives and subsequently refine your perspective accordingly
2.
Critique major theoretical approaches of leadership and leadership practices
3.
Demonstrate an understanding of contemporary theories of leadership and understand how these apply to the efforts of public health practitioners
4.
Describe how you will use concepts and tools from this topic to further develop your own leadership approach and skills, as well as the skills of those who work with you to address public health issues
