Aims

  • Understand the principles of research ethics, and critically evaluate and justify an area of research from an ethical point of view according to its aims and methodology
  • Integrate understanding and be able to apply the ethical principles that guide speech pathology professional practice
  • Understand the role of the speech pathologist in working with adults with communication and swallowing needs at different times in their journey, including in the terminal phase of their life
  • Ensure students recognise the impact of culture, language and diversity and respond respectfully when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People(s) and their communities
  • Ensure students develop and apply principles of critical self-reflection and life-long learning to support cultural responsiveness and cultural safety with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People(s) and their communities
